AMD Radeon HD 6250The AMD Radeon HD 6250 (or sometimes also called ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6250) is an integrated graphics card in the Ontario netbook processors (e.g., C-50 and C-30). It is based on the same graphics core as the but without any dedicated memory. Furthermore, it features the newer UVD3 video processor. The 3 D performance of the HD 6250 is located in the low end above the integrated chipset graphics card of the 880M chipset (e.g. Radeon HD 4250). Due to the slow processor, the gaming is however very restricted. In our tests only very old games ran fluent in medium detail settings (e.g.
Half Life 2). Even non demanding games like Trackmania Nations Forever ran in our tests with a C-50 APU only in low settings. Modern games like Starcraft 2 or Battlefield Bad Company 2 are unplayable. The new UVD3 video decoder allows the decoding of HD videos using the graphics card. It allows the parallel decoding of two MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1 streams and therefore compatible to BD-Live.

Furthermore, the new UVD3 also supports DivX, Xvid and MPEG4 Part 2 decoding. Blu-Ray 3D via MCV (Multiview Video Coding) of the UVD3 is not supported due to the low processing power. The power consumption of the HD 6250 is quite low as it is directly integrated in the processor. The whole processor containing northbridge parts, a memory controller and the gpu is specified with 9 Watt TDP. Wondering if anyone knows a good workaround for this one with some experience with a solid driver they use and the step by step setup. I am more into the stability of the driver to get a solid working xconfig perhaps some good HD video playback as well. As opposed to the 3D effects. I Simply just want to get my video card to work with KDE to setup a development atmosphere to start slackin away. CentOS works great with it (very stable x out the box). Its also a 2.6 kernel.

But I prefer Slackware and its KISS philosophy as opposed to being dependent on Redhat. That video card may have support under -Current. The latest kernel should have support for FrameBuffer support, 2D support is provided by the xf86-video-ati package driver, and 3D support is through the Gallium3D and LLVM enabled libmesa package. The other open source option if you are sticking to 13.37 is to either download, build, and install the latest libdrm package, latest kernel, build and install llvm from slackbuilds.org, and rebuild libmesa to support Gallium3D and use LLVM.It's that or give the AMD proprietary FLGRX driver a whirl. That is weird, your adapter should be supported. Which version of the driver are you using?Everytime I reply to your question I have to reboot my other laptop.
LOL (no problem though)The version i have is 12.6 amd catalyst.I am having so much hardware issues that I am thinking of just using Centos temporarily and return back with the slackware 14 release.Because even after I get X windows setup correctly I still have to deal with wifi. I am using an acer that uses Invilink for that.
So when I type ifconfig it doesnt see it.Also using 3 different usb wifis of Awus none of them was able to identify andy of the wifis with ifconfig. So its frustrating me as a novice. Or just upgrade to Slackware -current, you should be able to use the free radeon drivers with it.If I would guess I would say you have this issue because it is i wconfig for wireless devices. It may be easier to just install wicd from /extra and use that.Yes, perhaps I should try current. Its probably a lot more stable then ubuntu anyways. And for your info I have tried both ifconfig and iwconfig.(edit)I take that back iwconfig works with 1 of the 3 awus USBs but not with the invilink internal pci.
